Brushing your teeth is a basic routine that you should do at least twice daily, and after eating a meal. Brushing keeps your mouth clean and ensures that food particles do not accumulate on the surface of your teeth and gums. This will enable you to avoid dental problems such as cavities and decays from developing giving you a chance to enjoy healthy teeth. That said, there are effective brushing techniques that will enable you to properly clean your teeth and gums without hurting the tissues in your mouth.
Brushing Visible or front part of your tooth
The front part of your tooth is the visible side, and you should properly clean this side for white and bright teeth. Your brush should be at a 45-degree angle when you are cleaning the gumline and the outside surface of the teeth.
Inside part of your teeth
Maintain the angle while moving towards the inside of your teeth. This will allow you to clean your gums and the inside part of the tooth. Avoid brushing at right angles because you might hurt your gum line in the process.
Chewing surface of your teeth
Position the bristles of your toothbrush to lie flat on the surface of your tooth. You will be able to remove any food particles that may be left on these surfaces for instance, in the cusps of your molar teeth.
Floss frequently
Your toothbrush cannot reach between your teeth, and this is where flossing comes in handy. Flossing allows you to remove bacteria and food particles trapped between teeth.
