Getting A Dental Implant May Not Take As Long As You Think

Receiving dental implants helps transform your smile. It restores your bite function and appearance. Often, people wonder how long it takes to get their implants. Impressively, it is easier and more convenient to get an implant than it used to be. Dental implant technology is improving, allowing patients to receive their implants within just a few visits.
Same-Day Implants
A visit to our office for dental implants may necessitate that you first get temporary implants, also known as same-day implants. These restorations are not designed to be permanent and often are provided to offer protection and allow bite function during the period your permanent implants and crowns are being fabricated. You may receive same-day implants at the same time you get a tooth extraction. You can also receive them if your teeth have fallen out due to decay, trauma, or disease.
Permanent Dental Implants
It takes a few weeks to have your permanent dental implant fabrication completed. Once we take impressions and digital scans, we need time to construct the implants using the model obtained from the scans and impressions. However, if your remaining teeth need an extraction, it might take longer to get your permanent implants. The reason is that you need time for the extraction wound or the gums and bone to heal. It may take about three months before you get back for implant placement. That being said, you are sure that the procedure will be as fast as possible and soon you will bounce back with a healthy smile.
If you are missing your pearly whites or your dentures are ill-fitting, do not wait any longer. Having a completed dental implant work gives you artificial teeth that look and feel natural. Implants serve as a foundation for supporting a dental bridge, dentures, or replacing a damaged tooth without having the surrounding teeth disturbed. Call us today to schedule your appointment for a dental implant evaluation.
